White Post Farm: The Big Farming Weekend

By Kenna Zarebski

The big farming weekend is coming to the East Midlands this May at the White Post Farm animal park.

White Post Farm situated in Nottinghamshire has been entertaining kids and adults for now over 20 years, making it one of the East Midlands most favourite tourist attractions. The farm park contains animals such as cows, chicks, goats, llamas and much more. People can get up close to the animals by feeding the goats their dinner or by petting cute bunnies and baby chicks.

The big farming weekend is one very special event that is coming to the park on the 14th and 15th May which is one of the best weekends of the year for the park. With plenty to do over the two days, farmer Darren Bridge who looks after the animals at the farm explained what fun is to be expected for the exciting weekend: “Guests can expect lots of fun and plenty to do at our big farming weekend. We have special entertainers, great farm games for kids, craft activities and plenty more.”

Darren also explained how this weekend is also a very exciting time for the sheep at White Post Farm. All the sheep will be receiving their annual hair cut by sheep shearer Mike Hewson. The alpacas at the farm will also be receiving a trim as Mike explained: “I come to the farm every year to give the sheep and alpacas their hair cut using my scissors, curling tongues and even some hair gel!”

Although farmer Darren says his favourite animals are pigs, he can’t wait to help out with cutting the sheep’s coats. Along with his, Darren is also around to lend a helping hand to children and parents over the big weekend.
