Hi, I’m a newt! I am a semiaquatic amphibian and can be found in North America, Europe and Asia. I’m an adult newt so I have a lizard like body and I live permanently in the water. However some of us live on land and return to the water every year to breed. Most newts produce toxins in their skin, this is to defend themselves against predators. We like to eat insects, earthworms and tadpoles. The Great Crested newt is Britain’s largest amphibian and can grow twice as big as other newts.
