Bristol Aquarium: A Review
By Imogen Bavinton
We recently visited Bristol Aquarium, where we came face to face with an array of different sea creatures such as sharks, seahorses and even turtles. We compiled a review of the best bits we enjoyed from our day!
The aquarium is quite small, but despite this there is a lot to see and do. Once you go in you’re taken into an underwater world full of different sea life. There are various different displays as you make your way around. Starting off in the ‘UK waters’ exhibit, you will see lots of different creatures that reside in the UK such as Smooth-hound Sharks, Conger eels and crayfish.
Bristol aquarium is the only UK aquarium to have their own giant botanical houses, in which they can house exotic and Mediterranean plants. These urban jungles are also home to two aquatic displays featuring Sting Rays and Yellow Bellied Turtles. Seeing the turtles were definitely the highlight of our trip- they seemed so friendly!

Another highlight was learning all about seahorses during feeding time. During this, we learned all sorts of interesting facts about seahorses such as that they actually have neither stomachs nor teeth. We also got to see the ‘nursery’ area where we visited baby seahorses, sticklebacks and sharks.
Tickets were very reasonably priced at £13.00 for students compared to other aquariums which usually charge a lot more. For a standard adult ticket it costs £14.00 which guarantee’s your entry and includes a wide range of different talks for the day.
Additionally, there is a café and gift shop on your way out which serves a wide range of hot and cold food. Your ticket also allows you to exit the aquarium and come back in, in case there’s no food on offer that takes your fancy.
Overall, Bristol Aquarium was a friendly and down to earth attraction. It’s perfect as either a family day out or just to visit with friends. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and we hope you do too!
